Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz is one of my heroes. She pursued the great Oz with little more than a tiny dog, a Good Witch who seemed to disappear whenever she needed her and her 3 friends…a brainless scarecrow, a heartless tin man and a cowardly lion. She fought the Bad Witch and was repeatedly told NO when she felt she was nearing the end of her journey. She didn’t quit.
She wore amazing red high heels and when things seemed most impossible, dug deep in her heart and soul to find her guts, her brains and her courage, She clicked her heels together and repeated “There’s no place like home.” You know the story. Seems more like a fairytale until you really start to dissect the meaning.
The Wizard of Oz is a lovely story. But it’s really real life…we each face insurmountable obstacles that we can’t find our way over, under or around. We have to go through the struggles to tap our guts, our brains and our own courage.
I’ve got a pair of red high heels that I wear when I feel especially vulnerable. If you don’t have any, you should get a pair.
